AFC BUSINESS TAKES MEMBERS FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

AFC Business , the free business club organised by AFC Bournemouth, has gone from strength to strength since its launch in December last year, reflecting the vibrant business community in the region.

The Club already has over 250 members ranging from blue chip companies to smaller local organisations. Members receive a number of benefits including discounted corporate packages at AFC Bournemouth, the chance to promote themselves to other business members and access to regular competitions and corporate events. These have included breakfast seminars and evening networking events, and the last event mixed business with football as members enjoyed a BBQ and watched the Cherries' thrilling 3-3 draw against Derby County. Just as the football team has been promoted to npower League 1, so too has AFC Business enjoyed a time of growth and development.

Retail Skills Shop just the Job says FSB

The opening of a retail unit in Christchurch to be run for one week by retail students is just the job says Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). The Retail Skills Shop will open its doors in Saxon Square, Christchurch next week to give experience to budding shop owners and the FSB is delighted.

FSB Regional Organiser in Dorset, Colin Jamieson, said: "We are fully supportive of this innovative scheme which introduces the students to elements of retail by giving them hands-on experience along with the support of successful local retailers. Our High Streets and local shops are vital parts of local communities and this not only encourages young people to consider retail as a career but also gives them a head start if they choose this route for their future."

The scheme is part of a City and Guilds Level 2 course and the initiative is being undertaken by Retail Skillshop Dorset and Bournemouth and Poole College.
