Tops Day Nursery – Royal Bournemouth Hospital

Tops Day Nurseries opened at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in March 2000. The building, in Castle Lane East, was purpose-built for children and is currently registered for 88 children aged 0 - 5 years and 40 children aged 5 - 11 years in the Mini Beasts Play Club. (link to ad)

Nursery facilities

The lower floor of the nursery has a baby unit, for children aged 3 months to 1 year; two units for 1 and 2 year olds; and a room for 2 and a half to three year olds. The upper floor has a pre-school unit for children aged 3 - 5 years.

The upper floor also has a sensory room and a craft room which can be accessed by all of the different age groups.

Children at the nursery have access to a large enclosed garden, laid mostly to safety matting, and bark surfacing. The garden has equipment for all of the differing ages, including climbing and sliding equipment, swings for all ages, a large trampoline, growing area, mini-beast garden, creative table, sand, and much much more.

The nursery is also adjacent to a large lake, and the children and babies take regular walks to feed their feathered friends who live nearby.

The nursery also operates a baby-sitting service, during the nursery's closing times.

Nursery Opening times

The nursery is open from 6.45am until 7.45pm (subject to local demand), and can accommodate parents who require the same hours each week, as well as parents who need to alter their hours each week due to shift patterns. The nursery requires a minimum of 6 hours per week to be booked, and bookings can be up to the nearest 15 minutes, e.g. 8am to 3:15pm.

Tops Day Nursery – Boscombe

Tops Day Nurseries opened in Boscombe in December 2006. The building, St. Andrews Hall, 4c Wolverton Road, Boscombe, is on 3 floors plus a basement.

The pre school and the 2 year olds are on the ground floor, the babies and the playclub are on the second floor and there is a flat for staff on the third floor. The very large playclub room is available for hire for children's parties.

The gardens includes an all weather safety surface with wendy houses, sand pit, slides and climbing wall, and is also used for the small bikes and trikes. Parking and a drop-off zone is available at the front of the building in Wolverton Road.

Nursery Opening times

This nursery is open from 6.45am until 7.45pm (subject to local demand) currently to accommodate the working patterns of parents in Boscombe, and for 52 weeks of the year. It is currently closed on Bank Holidays and weekends.

Meal Menus

We offer the same high quality provision at both nurseries. Breakfast is available before 9am, please book with a member of staff. A 3 course meal is provided for lunch at 12 noon and a snack tea can be provided at 4pm, for which there are small extra charges. Parents may provide packed meals if they would prefer. A drink of milk or water and a snack is provided mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day.

Children and babies with special dietary needs are also catered for, please discuss these with the Manager.

We publish menus to keep parents informed of our meals, these change throughout the year.

We always have a starter of fresh raw vegetables as this is an excellent opportunity to provide the vegetables that the children need for their development at a time when they are hungry and likely to eat them. The vegetables typically include red and orange peppers, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, celery and carrots.
