Little People at Windy Willows

Welcome to Little People at Windy Willows day nursery and pre-school. Set on Iford playfield, Iford Lane, we serve families from Southbourne, Boscombe East, Tuckton, Christchurch, Hengistbury Head and the surrounding area.

Here at Willows, we are Ofsted registered to accept children from 2 years through to 8 years. Unlike other pre-schools, we are open from 8am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday and we offer flexible hours to fit around your family needs both through term time and school holidays.

Our core values are to celebrate your child’s individuality. Every child has their own journey here at Willows, which will be recorded for you to keep. All of our learning is encouraged through exploring the local enviroment, the seasons and – most importantly – having fun! We feel that it is very important for us to have a good relationship with all of our parents, therefore we encourage and invite parents to join in with us on a regular basis.

Our learning though play covers all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Willows is set in a diverse local environment, where we take full advantage of the natural world to aid development and the learning process. Situated on Iford Playing Fields, we are perfectly located to allow our children to learn by exploring the great outdoors and throughout the year – we will plan our learning and activities around the seasons. We have our own private outdoor area where children can play, learn, create and grow. We encourage outdoor activities year round, obviously weather permitting! Throughout the school term, we plan regular days out to encourage your child’s learning further. Trips will include: the beach, the Fire Station, shopping, den building, nature trails and much more.

Each child is welcomed as an individual, nuturing their self-identity whilst extending a warm hand of friendship to their families. We empower our children to grow holistically within a happy, yet challenging environment. Willows offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where all ages integrate in play, discovering and exploring together. We extend a warm welcome to the whole family and have regular events where we encourage parents and siblings to become involved.

Our first and foremost priority is the children. We pride ourselves in getting to know each child, and through this we are able to develop their confidence, interest and skills. Our creative play includes: messy and water play, painting, cooking, arts and crafts, dressing up etc.

We aim to nurture every child to enable them to reach their potential by planning and learning around the principles and standards that are set out in the Early Foundation Stage, helping children to record their learning journey with us and to have fun at the same time.

Each child is allocated a key worker who will encourage your child's development. We also liase with both Bournemouth and Christchurch schools to ensure that the transistion for each of our children from nursery to school is as smooth as possible.
