Pupils at Talbot House School in Bournemouth left their school uniforms at home and put on red clothes earlier this term as they showed their support for the British Heart Foundation's ( BHF) Red for Heart campaign.
BHF Fundraising Volunteer Manager, Zoe Nicholson and BHF Volunteer, Elyse Kaparos visited the school to highlight the importance of taking good care of your heart. Their visit was part of the school's week-long healthy living programme - which also included talks from police officers, fire officers and beach safety officers.
Thousands more people all over the country followed the school's example on 26th February, which has been designated National Wear Red Day. The day is one of the highlights of the BHF's Red for Heart programme, which ran throughout the month of February.
"It was great to see all the kids wearing red supporting our Red for Heart campaign. They all took part in our talks about keeping your heart healthy, it was lovely to see them so enthusiastic. We hope that they le arnt something and will be able to implement it in their lives as it is so important." said Zoe.
Charlotte Oosthuizen, Head Teacher of Talbot House School said: "Healthweek is a very successful annual event at Talbot House Preparatory School and we have been commended for this by Ofsted inspectors, as well as many professionals and members of the community who have visited our school during this period. We are delighted that the BHF team joined us to share their important message with our children - their work in the community is significant and their sessions with the children were worthwhile and most enjoyable."
