Future ‘Bake Off’ spin-off presenter, Tom Allen, comedian, writer and actor, visited The Grove Hotel in Bournemouth to experience its award-winning facilities first-hand.

Famously sharp-witted comedian and the soon to be Presenter of Bake Off: The Professionals, Tom Allen, has stopped by The Grove Hotel during a visit to Bournemouth. In town for a show at the Regent Centre in Christchurch, Tom took a break from his ‘Absolutely’ tour to pay a special visit to the unique hotel for cancer sufferers. He was also joined by fellow multi-award winning standup comedian and Celebrity Mastermind winner, George Lewis.

Situated on the East Cliff, The Grove is an award-winning hotel run by the local charity Macmillan Caring Locally. The hotel is specially designed as a holiday resort for people suffering from terminal illnesses along with their families, friends, and careers. There is also a team of nurses on emergency call 24 hours a day. During their visit, Tom and George had the opportunity to take a tour of the hotel and its award-winning facilities, plus meet the staff and guests over afternoon tea. During his visit, the comedian’s unique style of sharp and acerbicwit helped to enhance the welcoming atmosphere and raise more than a few laughs.

A rising comedy star, Tom started as a stand up at the age of twenty-two and won both So You Think You’re Funny in Edinburgh and the BBC New Comedy Awards in the same year. Since then he has honed his unique style, performing to audiences all over the UK and around the world. In January 2017, he made his debut on Live at the Apollo in an episode hosted by Sarah Millican. Prior to his leading role on Bake Off the Professionals, Tom has also appeared on Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Radio 4’s Just a Minute show.

Tom Allen said:

“I was very pleased to receive the invitation to visit The Grove Hotel. It’s a unique establishment that helps so many cancer sufferers from across the country to have a safe and relaxing holiday on the South Coast. I was truly impressed by everything I saw on my visit and I hope the hotel will be providing good care and great holidays for those who need it most, for many years to come.”

Brenden Howard, General Manager of The Grove, added:

“We were honoured to have received a visit from Tom Allen and George Lewis. We would like to thank them for coming to meet us and helping raise awareness about the work we are doing for cancer sufferers, their friends and families.”
