Let's face it; it is hard to beat fine Italian food and wine. What we didn't realise is that we have a real gem right here in Bournemouth - it's a fabulous secret just waiting to be uncovered!

If you are looking for an authentic Italian experience for a special meal, then look no further than La Piccola Ristorante Pizzeria near Lansdowne, Bournemouth.

La Piccola is Bournemouth's longest established Italian restaurant (Est. 1981), and when you visit for the first time it is easy to see why it has become a firm favourite for locals and tourists alike.

Upon arriving we were met by our waiter for the evening, Alex, who kindly took our coats and welcomed us into a perfect blend of rustic Italian charm and modern décor. The owner and head chef Graciano was wonderful, welcoming guests like old friends, ensuring a warm and relaxing atmosphere that was not ruined by overbearing music like many restaurants.

The menu is an impressive mix of traditional classics and contemporary cuisine guaranteed to satisfy any appetite! The wine list caters for all palates including a wonderful Rosato Veronese, which we can highly recommend.

The service was impeccable, with Alex being attentive and knowledgeable as he assisted us in making our selections including Cozze al Pomodoro (fresh garlic mussels in a tomato sauce), Bruschetta, Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli and Penne Montradini (strips of fillet steak with penne pasta). When you visit La Piccola make sure you are hungry as the portions are generous and filling, and ensure you leave space for the tempting array of desserts on offer.

If you are planning a party, special occasion or just want to try something new, you would be hard pushed to find somewhere more relaxed and welcoming than La Piccola.
