The Beehive, Canford Cliffs

The Beehive, Canford Cliffs

Wow - that was our first impression as we walked in to the new Beehive earlier today.

The Beehive Inn, Canford Village is one of the area’s best kept secrets. A beautifully restored bar, restaurant and hotel, offering a relaxed and comfortable dining area for both locals and guests. Style wise, I would say a good mix of contemporary and colonial with a dollop of home comforts. The Beehive has eight bedrooms. We managed to have a sneaky look at all eight rooms and they are absolutely stunning. With every room having it's own identity, the colour schemes and soft furnishings running throughout all eight rooms are outstanding and to a standard that you would usually associate with a 4 / 5 star hotel.

All rooms include stunning art, flat screen tv’s, wi-fi, en-suite bathrooms and Egyptian sheets. The Beehive is also one of only a couple of hotels in Poole to cater specifically for the disabled with in-room facilities such as a wet room and handle bars. This boutique style, family run hotel offers fantastic accommodation for couples, families and business travellers.

Downstairs you will find an equally stunning bar and restaurant area with a menu that fits all! Whether you are after a gutsy burger or a more refined salad or maybe a traditional pie - there is something for everyone.

Joannah and I were invited to try the New Beehive for lunch. We decided to go on a Monday lunchtime, thinking it would be quiet - how wrong were we! The Beehive is clearly the place to go for Monday lunch! As it was lunchtime, we decided to share a starter and went for the Crispy Squid with homemade tartar sauce. The portion was huge! For our main courses, I had the Moules Mariniers and Joannah had sizzling Chicken Fajitas. Both dishes were delicious. The Fajitas were definitely sizzling and the Moules were served in the tastiest and richest white wine and cream sauce.

Being a lunch time, we didn't get to sample the wine list however there are plenty of fine and affordable wines to choose from, along with a fine selection of local real ales on tap. The dessert menu also boasts a fine range of desserts to choose from.

The Beehive is set in a lovely position, perfect for exploring Compton Acres of the beach. The Beehive also welcomes children, both in the bar / restaurant and in the hotel with a dedicated children’s menu and games to keep them entertained!

We will definitely be returning to The Beehive as it is the perfect location for lunch - just be warned though, should you decide to visit for their Sunday carvery or maybe for a Saturday Night treat, then you will be advised to book a table to avoid disappointment!
