Vandals Attack Charity Vehicle

A Dorset charity is reeling after heartless vandals targeted a specially-adapted vehicle which acts as a lifeline for its disabled members.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life donated to Access Dorset was vandalised outside a Weymouth home on Sunday February 5. It is believed to have been the only vehicle targeted in the street.

More than £2,000 worth of damage was caused in the attack in Chesil View, including a smashed window and wing mirror and badly scratched door. The disability signage on the car which highlighted the charity's good work will have to be redone.

Website Launched as Window to Bournemouth’s Future

A partnership that will deliver major regeneration in Bournemouth Town Centre has launched a website highlighting the plans.

The website, designed and constructed by local web company Yammayap, features information, news and an interactive map of the sites earmarked for improvement by The Bournemouth
Development Company.

Duncan Johnston, of The Bournemouth Development Company, said: "We wanted to give the public a clear idea how this partnership between Morgan Sindall Investments Ltd and Bournemouth Borough Council works and to reflect the care being taken to ensure coordinated, attractive and exciting development.

Berkoff’s Second Night Triumph in Bournemouth

SECOND night nerves shouldn’t affect celebrated actor, playwright and director Stephen Berkoff when he talks to Bournemouth students and theatre fans, on January 19.

This will be ‘take two’ at Avonbourne Business & Enterprise College for Mr Berkoff after his special evening at the school planned for last November was cancelled last minute due to travel problems.

A few tickets are still available for the rescheduled event this month where Mr Berkoff will share insights from his long and distinguished career - from battling James Bond to redefining 
modern theatre.

The 2012 Cupcake Camp is coming to the Bournemouth Pavilion

Preparations are well underway for the South West's second Cupcake Camp to take place in Bournemouth and on 17th of March at 2pm the Bournemouth Pavilion will fling its doors open to the hundreds of hungry Cupcake fans who have been eagerly anticipating its arrival.

Last year the success of the Cupcake Camp was so phenomenal that this year a committee has been formed to help with the organisation of the event. Cake Heaven's Margaret Hitchman has joined forces with Melanie Kiani of Simply Events and leisure and cultural trust BH Live which operates the Bournemouth Pavilion, to bring you an event that's even bigger and better than before!

Record-breaking Audiences for Jack and the Beanstalk

BH Live, the leisure and cultural trust which manages and operates the Bournemouth Pavilion, is pleased to report record breaking audiences for the 2011 Jack and the Beanstalk Pantomime at the Bournemouth Pavilion which delighted nearly 40,000 people during the 2011 festive season.

In addition to the bumper attendances, the popular show which featured an all star cast including local favourites Debra Stephenson (The Impressions Show & Coronation Street) and Chris Jarvis (CBeebies), Kate Weston from Wave 105, Nick Wilton (EastEnders) and Brian Capron (Coronation Street), also raised over £8,000 from customer donations for the Variety Club Children's Charity which will be used to purchase two new wheelchairs.

Tops Day Nurseries are filling up, already accommodating 33 children who are unable to go to school on Wednesday. Tops are offering emergency childcare for children up to the age of 11 in their nurseries and Mini Beasts Play Clubs. There are 7 Mini Beasts Play Clubs across Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire where some spaces are still available in the clubs at Taunton (Musgrove Park Hospital), Wimborne (Leigh Road), Poole (Denmark Lane), Boscombe (Wolverton Road), Bournemouth (Royal Bournemouth Hospital), Portsmouth (Queen Alexandra Hospital), Newport (Isle of Wight College).
