Cherries Announce Help the Hospices Family Day

AFC Bournemouth is delighted to announce that the club will be holding a Help the Hospices Family Day on Saturday 25th Februaryas the Cherries host MK Dons at the Seward Stadium.

In the wake of the success of the Family Football Festival held in October, the club is looking to reward families who get behind the Cherries by offering a ticket for two children and two adults for just £25.

A donation of £5 from every family ticket will be made to the hospices.

The day kicks-off at 12 noon , and there will be a number of fun activities and competitions going on around the stadium, including face painting, keepy up challenges and hair braiding.

Cherries v Exeter Fixture Rearranged For Tuesday 7 February

The Cherries match against Exeter at the Seward Stadium tomorrow has been postponed due to a frozen pitch and has been rearranged Tuesday February 7th, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

The pitch at the Seward Stadium has been covered since the beginning of the week, but the game was called off by referee Oliver Langford this morning.

Guys Marsh Prison Scheme Launch

Cherries Use Power of Football to Help Prisoners

AFC Bournemouth 's Community Sports Trust is using the power of football to help inmates at Guys Marsh Prison in Shaftesbury gain
new qualifications.

The Trust and the staff at Guys Marsh have designed a six week programme to give inmates at the category C facility the necessary skills to be able to do positive work in their local communities upon release.

The inmates will receive coaching from the club's qualified staff and will earn an FA Leaders award as part of the initiative, and could be nominated to study for their FA level one coaching badge.

Bournemouth Sevens and AFC Bournemouth have today welcomed a link-up ahead of the fifth annual Bournemouth Sevens Festival which takes place in June this year.

Festival Director, Roger Woodall, is delighted to have secured this deal which will see AFC Bournemouth and festival owners Diamond Sporting Group working on a number of exciting projects throughout 2012.

Car Sticker Incentive Launched at Seward Stadium

You can win a personalised Cherries shirt - signed by your favourite player - at every home game just by showing support for your club.

Every supporter who has a Cherries car sticker in the window of their vehicle, whilst parked in either car park adjacent to the Seward Stadium, will be in with a chance of winning a signed third shirt.

The initiative starts this weekend with the visit of Notts County and will run for the remainder of the campaign, with the winner having their registration number read over the tannoy at half-time and displayed on the big screen...

Rob Mitchell Appointed to Cherries Board

Long-standing commercial director Rob Mitchell has been appointed to the board of directors at AFC Bournemouth.

Chairman Eddie Mitchell has invited Rob to join the board after a number of successful seasons in the commercial department, asking him to provide a link between the board and commercial operation at the Seward Stadium.

Rob Mitchell - who is no relation to the current Cherries Chairman - predates the presiding regime and was appointed in August 2008.

Cherries Chairman is sitting on Top of the Bay

AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has acquired local radio station The Bay, currently broadcasting on 102.8 FM in the Bournemouth and Poole area.

In an unprecedented move - expanding official Cherries media output over yet another medium - Mitchell expressed his delight at acquiring the station which has become a established fixture on Bournemouth airwaves since it's inception in 2008.

Mitchell said "It's a decision that both myself and my partner feel is a good private acquisition and one that will help AFC Bournemouth in getting their message out to the local community. Bought as an investment, we hope to associate the station with the Cherries and other local sporting events in both Bournemouth and Poole."

The Cherries at Matchams Karting

Cherries Hit the Race Track

AFC Bournemouth is looking to join the race for promotion to the npower Championship this season, but found themselves in a different race last week.

With two weeks without a league fixture Lee Bradbury and his squad took a break from their normal training routine to visit Matchams Karting.

The Cherries players spent a wet December afternoon in the 200cc karts racing round the 420m outdoor track.

The players raced for just over an hour in an endurance race, and there was plenty of spins and overtaking as the three-man teams jostled for pole position.

Bournemouth Boys (and Steve Fletcher) Back Movember

There might still be over six months left of the season for the players at AFC Bournemouth, but they're coming to the end of a very different campaign.

A number of players and coaching staff are today preparing to shave off the face fuzz that they've been cultivating since the beginning of November.

Movember is a global event that sees men grow moustaches throughout November to raise funds and awareness for men's health issues, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

AFC Bournemouth is the first UK football club to enter a partnership with FanMobile, a novel innovation whereby fans can pledge their support to their club, simply by taking out a new mobile phone contract. The official launch took place during the club’s home game against Oldham Athletic on Saturday 26th November 2011.

Rob Mitchell, commercial director of AFC Bournemouth said, “As an npower League 1 team, we rely on external sponsorship to complement our own efforts. The partnership with FanMobile means that we will be able to raise useful funds, and at the same time, our fans will get a ‘feel-good’ factor by taking part.”
