Christchurch Food Festival’s Kids’ Kitchen Expands

Financial sponsorship from the Rotary Club of Christchurch will increase the number of workshops offered at this year's Kids' Kitchen, held as part of Christchurch Food &
Wine Festival
.

The Rotary sponsorship will also widen the age range for the workshops from three years old to 14 years old. Waitrose in Christchurch is supporting the workshops by providing the food that will be cooked by the young chefs.

The Kids' Kitchen workshops, organised by Christchurch Food Festival Education Trust as part of its commitment to the promotion of healthy eating, will be held in the Priory School on the same days as the International Food Market - Saturday 12 May and Sunday 13 May.

Workshops will be run as follows:

Workshop one : For 3 - 5 year olds: 'Little Munchkins Cookery Parties'
From 10.30am - 12noon or 2.30pm - 4pm

Workshop two : For 6 - 10 year olds: 'Lucy and Lesley's Little Chefs'

Workshop Four: For 9 - 14 year olds: 'Liz's Tortellini Workshops'

All workshops last for approximately 1½ hours and cost £5.

in person.

Sponsorship of £5,000 from Christchurch Rotary covers the Kids' Kitchen workshops as well as the Junior Cook of the Year competition run between the three secondary schools in Christchurch and a primary school competition.

Mike Devall, President of the Rotary Club of Christchurch, said: "The Rotary Club is delighted to be able to support what has now become a premier event in the Christchurch calendar. Through our sponsorship we are reinforcing our commitment to supporting young people in the town."

Mary Reader, President of Christchurch Food & Wine Festival, added: "We are very grateful to have the support of Christchurch Rotary. It has enabled us to double the number of workshops we are offering and widen the age range, as well as provide more variety in the subjects covered in the workshops."
